Bible Verses for Encouragement

As we live in today’s society  there are so many things that can make us feel discouraged. Discouragement is nothing to be ashamed of and is a regular part of being a human being. God in his infinite wisdom knew that there would be times where we would need to be encouraged. The next section of this post is an excerpt from Tim of pathos.com. Enjoy!

The Word of God is full of encouraging verses that give us hope and strength or every situation we’re in.  Whether you’ve found yourself out of a job, struggling with your relationships, or nervous about an upcoming test or project at work, I’d encourage you to turn to these encouraging bible verses.

My 20 Favorite Encouraging Bible Verses

Psalm 23:4  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 34:8  Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Psalm 34:19  The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;

Psalm 37:4  Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 55:22  Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.

Psalm 103:2-6  Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

Psalm 119:105  Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Psalm 121:1-2  I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD,  the Maker of heaven and earth.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 16:3  Commit to the LORD whatever you do,  and he will establish your plans.

Proverbs 18:10  The name of the LORD is a fortified tower;  the righteous run to it and are safe.

Isaiah 40:31  but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Matthew 11:28  Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 2:18  Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 John 4:4  You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
